Tom Brady, Jesus, His Team and Game Plan

There’s no shortage of talk these days when it comes to the New England Patriots and their sustained excellence since the dawn of this century.
At the heart of it is quarterback Tom Brady. In the midst of admiring his proficiency, remember this: He’s still searching in regard to the most important matters of life.  A few years ago, he was interviewed on 60 Minutes by journalist Steve Kroft.

“Why do I have Super Bowl rings and still think there's something greater out there for me? I mean, maybe a lot of people would say, 'Hey man, this is what it’s all about.' I reached my goal, my dream, my life. Me? I think, 'It's got to be more than this.' I mean this isn't—this can't be—all it's cracked up to be . . . . What’s the answer? I wish I knew . . . .”

There are plenty of people like Tom Brady all around us. Pray for him and them. Be present, listen, love, and “be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect . . . . (1 Peter 3:15)
