Bible Study - FOR A LIMITED TIME: He\'s All and In All

Sermon-Based Bible Study – May 24, 2020
  1. What is something God has done for you that you are thankful for or are celebrating? How have you experienced his love and grace this week?

  2. Where are you experiencing stress, anxiety or discouragement? How would you like to see God move in your life or in the life of someone close to you?

  3. What did you hear in this week’s sermon that was new or particularly interesting? Did anything stand out to you as puzzling or troubling?

  4. Begin by reading Colossians 2:4, 8, 16-18. Pay careful attention to Paul’s concern for them.
    • What do you notice in these verses? Which words or phrases stand out to you?
    • Paul writes, “see to it” and “do not let.” This communicates a sense of watchfulness and awareness. What is Paul getting at?
    • Paul is contrasting human intellect/experience and the reality “found in Christ.” What can we learn from Paul’s words here?

  5. In explaining this part of Colossians 2 Chris mentioned that some are prone to: “knowing more” intellectually, or “doing more” in terms of ritual or service, or “feeling more.” What about you? What do you tend toward when you take your eyes off Jesus?

  6. Now read Colossians 1:15-20. Spend some time considering this description of Jesus Christ.
    • What does the text say about Christ the Son? (his power, his being, his nature, his sacrifice)
    • What does this passage teach us about God’s work of reconciliation? How does it happen?

  7. Christ is all. How does this encourage you right now?

  8. Are you aware of any needs or challenges in the life of someone close to you (financial, material, spiritual)? Is there anything you (we) can do to help that person in this season?
