Bible Study - TIM KETCHERSID - OTS Training

Sermon-Based Bible Study – OTS Training - October 4, 2020
  1. What is something God has done for you that you are thankful for or are celebrating? How have you experienced God’s love and faithfulness this week?
  2. Where are you experiencing stress, anxiety or discouragement? How would you like to see God move in your life or in the life of someone close to you?
  3. What did you hear in this week’s sermon that was new or particularly interesting? Who would benefit or be interest in hearing about that from you?  Did anything stand out to you as puzzling or troubling?
  4. Read Matthew 5:21-22; 38-45.  Do you think of anger as a sin?  What about calling someone else a fool?  Why might Jesus have dealt with anger before he discussed lust?
  5. Read James 1:19-20.  Why do you think some of us have been struggling with anger during this season?
  6. Who do you know that is naturally gifted to do something and who also works really hard to fully develop their natural talent?  Is there anything you are naturally gifted to do?  Have you spent any time working at fully developing a natural gifting to its full potential?
  7. Matthew 4:1-2; Mark 1:35; Luke 6:12. Do you think Jesus ever had to work hard at spiritual formation? Why?
  8. The six foundational priorities of Jesus’s life are easy to remember using the acronym Holy Spirit POWER.  The foundational priorities are: Holy Spirit dependence; Prayerful Guidance; Obedient Living; Word Centered; Exalting the Father; and Relationships of Love and Integrity.  Which of these do you feel called to focus on with some Off the Spot Training right now? In that regard, what would deliberate practice, or Off the Spot Training look like for you?
  9.  What is a simple, next step you could take in obedience to what the Spirit is saying to you through this time in the Word?  Who would benefit, or be interested in hearing about what you’ve learned in this study?
