Bible Study - STRANGERS - Dealing with a Prowler

Sermon-Based Bible Study – November 29, 2020
  1. What is something God has done for you that you are thankful for or are celebrating? How have you experienced God’s love and faithfulness this week?
  2. Where are you experiencing stress, anxiety or discouragement? How would you like to see God move in your life or in the life of someone close to you?
  3. What did you hear in this week’s sermon that was new or particularly interesting? Who would benefit or be interest in hearing about that from you?  Did anything stand out to you as puzzling or troubling?
  4. Chris mentioned that every NT writer mentions the devil and Jesus refers to the devil 25 times throughout the gospels.  Does that surprise you?  Do you think of the devil as a serious threat to your life or well-being?  Why?
  5. Read 1 John 3:8.  What is the devil’s work?
  6. Read 1 Peter 5:1-11.  What stands out to you as particularly interesting or important to you right now in this passage?
  7. Read Ezekiel 34:2-5.  What is the work of a shepherd?  Why is t important to have shepherds who are watching out for you when it comes to resisting or overcoming the devil?
  8. Read 1 Peter 5:6 and James 4:7-8.  What do these passages suggest we do to protect ourselves from the devil?
  9. Read 1 Peter 5:7-8.  What does this passage encourage us to do to protect against the attacks of the devil?  How does anxiety keep us from being alert and sober minded?
  10. 1 Peter 5 ends by reminding us of two things; we’re not alone (other believers are experiencing the same things we are) and God is with us.  Which is most comforting to you right now?  Why?
  11. What is a simple, next step you could take in obedience to what the Spirit is saying to you through this time in the Word?  Who would benefit, or be interested in hearing about what you’ve learned in this study?
