Bible Study - ANCIENT FUTURE - Spirit Led

Sermon-Based Bible Study – September 12, 2021

  1. What is something God has done for you that you are thankful for or are celebrating? How have you experienced God’s love and faithfulness this week?
  2. Where are you experiencing stress, anxiety or discouragement? How would you like to see God move in your life or in the life of someone close to you?
  3. Please remember to pray for the medical professionals who are treating those suffering with COVID 19.
  4. What did you hear in this week’s sermon that was new or particularly interesting? Did anything stand out to you as puzzling or troubling?
  5. Read Acts 11:27-30 and Acts 12:25-13:3. We can see from the events recorded in these passages that church in Antioch was “Spirit led.”  Compare and contrast these two examples of how the Spirit works.
    • What aspects of these two events are similar?
    • Which are different?
    • To whom does the Spirit speak?
    • In what sense is Agubus a part of the church in Antioch?
    • How is the purpose or focus of the Spirit’s leading similar or different in each case? Why might that matter to us?
    • What are the similarities and differences in the way the church responds?
    • What do you see in these events that The Branch Church could be doing or focusing on to follow the example of the church in Antioch when it comes to being Spirit led?
  6. What is a simple, next step you could take in obedience to what the Spirit is saying to you through this time in the Word?  Who would benefit, or be interested in hearing about what you’ve learned in this study?
